That's a loud kid...

I keep saying how loud Ava. Just in case you didn't believe me, here is some proof! She does not just do this when she is playing in the front yard. She does this on walks, at the mall, while playing with her toys, even at church! It cracks us up. At least it is happy screaming, right?

7 months

Ava turned 7 months on May 11th. What a fun month this has been. Ava is a busy girl who is getting bigger and more active everyday. She is eating all sorts of food and seems to like just about everything, except for peaches. Her schedule has gotten very consistent. She takes about an hour and half nap in the morning, a two to two and half hour nap in the afternoon and still sleeps 12 to 13 hours a night. Love it! Ava is sitting up completely on her own now. She is rolling all over the place. No crawling yet but she is starting to scoot across the floor using her arms. We keep waiting for some teeth to make an appearance. Lots of drool and chewing, but no teeth yet. Have I mentioned yet how very loud she is? Her newest sound is just a loud scream. If you didn't know, you would think she was upset, but no, just loves the sounds of her voice. She loves baths, being sung to, and being outside. Brent and I are continually amazed at what an easy baby she is. She is our sweet baby girl.
7 months...love that little face!
Three of her favorite things...outside, Abby dog, and Daddy
Whenever we change her, all she wants to do is flip over and look out the window.
We finally stopped swaddling her this month and she sleeps so well on her belly.
Her new big girl bathtub chair. I really think she would play in there for hours if we would let her.
We started to give her a cup a week or so ago. She does not really know what to do with. She mainly just chews on it or bangs it. She will drink out of it if i hold it for her.
Big girl sitting all by herself.

Broccoli

This weekend we decided to add a few veggie to our garden. One of the things we planted was broccoli. What we forgot is that broccoli is one of Abby's favorite foods. This is what happened to our broccoli about five minutes after it was planted.

So much for that...At least Abby enjoyed it.

Mother's Day

I got to celebrate my first Mother's Day this year as a mom. We had a great Mother's Day weekend. On Saturday, we all woke up and walked to breakfast. It was a beautiful day so after that we headed up to the mountains to play disc golf. That evening, Brent surprised me with a date. He arranged for our friends, Liz and Jeremy, to come babysit Ava. Brent and I went out to dinner in Golden (a little suburb of Denver right in the foothills). Unknown to us, there was car show happening in downtown Golden so that entertained us while we waited to be seated. After dinner we went to the top of Lookout Mountain and watched the sunset. It was a great date!

On Sunday, we went to church. Brent had another surprised planned. He arranged for our babysitter to come on a hike with us so Brent and I could trail run together while she hiked with Ava. Unfortunately, I was not feeling real well so we ended up canceling. But, we did get to watch the Mavs beat up on the Lakers so that was pretty great.

I felt so loved and blessed all weekend. I love being a mom and I am so thankful for my sweet baby girl and my amazing husband who is such a great partner and dad (but we will get to that next month). Brent and I are also so thankful for our mother's who have been such great examples and loved us so well!

Spring in Colorado

Oh how i love spring in Colorado. Brent and I just came in from the front porch where we were watching a thunder storm roll through the city and sitting listening to the rain come down. What a great evening! The weather has been so beautiful here. Last week Brent started planting flowers in our yard. It is so much fun to get to watch them grow and bloom. Here are a couple pictures. I will post some throughout the next few months to show you the progress. I think it is gonna be pretty!

Easter

Happy Easter (a week or so late). We had a great day celebrating our risen Savior. It was a chilly overcast day which meant our plans of heading up to the mountains were changed but it was still a nice day. Church was a wonderful celebration of life and hope. Our church follows the church calendar very closely and during the season of Lent, since it is a season of lament and mourning, we don't say the word "allelujah". So on Easter we are able to say Allelujah again. It was so beautiful to hear the whole church yelling out "ALLELUJAH!! He is RISEN!!"

Ava had her cute little white Easter dress. She didn't even spit up on it so it stayed white.

A few days before Easter Brent brought home the most beautiful Lilies. They get prettier everyday and smell so wonderful! Makes me think of 2 Corinthians 2:14-15.

First Bump

We had our first bump on the head. Well, there have been other bumps, but this is the first to leave a visible mark. I kind of don't want to talk about it because it was pretty much my fault. She was taking a bath a hit her head on the side of the little tub (don't worry, it is plastic). Luckily, Ava seems to still love me. Here is a picture. The bump is on the right side of her forehead. Don't worry...there are not lasting injuries.
