Father's Day

We are so blessed to have great fathers to celebrate on Father's Day. Brent and I are both so thankful for our father's who are such great examples of love, service and dedication and have been great examples to us of godly men, husbands and fathers.

It was fun to get to celebrate the father that Brent is to Ava. It has been such a joy to get to watch the two of them interact. Ava loves to see her daddy and always gets excited when he walks in the room. I am thankful for how involved Brent is with Ava. Whether they are playing a game, snuggling on the couch or eating the connection and love between the two of them is obvious. As Ava has gotten older, her eyes and her facial expressions look more and more like Brent's. I love to watch them look at each other with identical looks on their face. I am a big believer in the importance of a father in a girls life, which makes me even more thankful that my daughter has Brent as her father. She's a daddy's girl and I think that will be one of her greatest assets as she grows into a little girl, teenager and young women. I truly believe she will better know God's love because of how beautifully her father loves her.

On Father's day we went to church and then over to some friends home for a cookout. After that, Brent, Ava and I loaded into the jeep and went for a drive in the mountains; one of Brent's most favorite things. It was a little cool and overcast but we had a great day all together.
Ava and daddy!
The view. Even on an overcast day it is beautiful.
Our little family. (Pretty sure i was the only one on the 4-wheeling trail in a dress)
They love each other!

Lake Michigan

Ava and I spend June 10th through the 17th at Lake Michigan with my family (Brent had to work...very sad!). My parents both grew up in Michigan so much of our extended family still lives there. I had not been to Michigan in about 5 years. It was so great to be there again, we use to go every summer as kids. My Uncle Craig and Aunt Sue have a lake house right on Lake Michigan that they let us use for the week. It was perfect. There was a ton of room for everyone, a huge yard to play in and the beach was just down the stairs. The kids had a blast! Unfortunately, Ava got her first cold while we there and it was a bad one. Poor little baby. Thankfully my sister Jill was there so she helped me figure out what medication to give her and how to make her more comfortable. Ava was feeling much better by the time we got back on the plane. So despite the few days of sickness, it was a great trip!

Cole and Ally were so sweet to Ava. They would come up and talk to her and hug and kiss her. She loved watching the big kids play.

Sick baby....notice the snot nose. She was so sad.
Of course we had to attempt a cousin picture. At least they are all looking the same direction.

8 Months

8 months...I can't believe it. Ava turned 8 months old on June 11 while we were in Michigan visiting family (more on that soon). What a month it has been. We feel like, in the last few weeks, our little baby got big! She is crawling, pulling up to stand, eating food that is less mushed, and got her first tooth!!! I say it every month, but Ava just get more fun. She is so interactive, engaging and silly.  The good thing is, all that activity wears her out and she is still sleeping 12 to 13 hours a night and taking two great naps a days. We are loving summer and the warm weather and Ava loves to play outside.
Celebrating 8 months on the beach
Crawling...and headed right to all the things she can not touch!
Loves Abby dog! Abby really does not know what to do now that this little thing knows how to crawl over to her.

Memorial Day

Our Memorial Day weekend was pretty low key but really nice. Brent worked on Saturday but on Sunday after church we went to the park with some friends. The day started out cold and overcast, but by the time we got to the park it was beautiful. Ava got to swing for the first time and loved watching the big kids play. Then on Monday there was a little street festival just down the street from us. We walked over there and met up with some friends. We ate some festival food...corn dogs, pizza and the biggest chocolate chip cookie ever. It was another pretty Colorado day. I didn't take many pictures, but here is one of Ava at the festival.
